Exercises to try
Build a title from two words
Generate 8 and pair any two. “Velvet Highway”, “Copper Lullaby” and “Neon Harbor” all sound like songs. Pick the pair that suggests a story, then write the chorus first.
Three word verse
Choose three words from one batch and use all of them in your first verse. The limit forces you away from the phrases you always reach for.
One image per line
Generate 4 words and give each line of a verse one of them, in order. It keeps the verse concrete instead of vague.
Rhyme practice
Take one word, such as ember, and list every rhyme and near rhyme you can think of in two minutes: remember, December, surrender. Then write a couplet.
Co-writing warm-up
In a writing session, each person generates one word and the group must fit all of them into the hook. It breaks the ice and gets ideas moving.
Random, not repetitive
Each word is drawn with your browser’s cryptographic random generator, so every word in the list has the same chance. A batch never repeats a word. If you generate many times, words will come back, so keep the ones you like as you go.

Words chosen for their sound and imagery: places like harbor and rooftop, weather like thunder and frost, colors like crimson and indigo, objects like vinyl and lantern, and time words like midnight and someday.
How many words are in the list?
There are 212 songwriting words. Each press of Generate draws a fresh set with no repeats inside the batch.
How many words should I generate?
The default is 8, which is a good number for one verse or a short exercise. You can choose anywhere from 1 to 50.
Can I filter the words by mood or type?
No. This generator uses one mixed list on purpose, so a soft word like lullaby can land next to a hard one like thunderbolt. That contrast often makes a stronger line.
Can I use the words in songs I release?
Yes. These are ordinary English words, so you are free to use them in your lyrics, titles and song ideas.
How do I save a set I like?
Press Copy all to copy the whole batch, or tap the copy icon beside one word. Paste them into your notes app or lyric file before you generate again.
