    Roll any dice online

This dice roller rolls one die or up to ten at once, with any common die from a 4 sided d4 to a d100. It shows each die, adds up the total and keeps a list of your rolls. Reach for it when a board game is missing its dice, when you are playing over a video call, or when you need a die with more sides than the ones in the drawer.

It is free, runs in your browser, and works on a phone at the table.

How to use the dice roller

    1. Set Number of dice, from 1 to 10.
    2. Choose the die in Sides: d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20 or d100.
    3. Press Roll. The dice shake for a moment and settle.
    4. Read the total in large type. With more than one die, the line below lists each one, like 5 + 1 + 3.
    5. Press the space bar to roll again without reaching for the button.

What you see after a roll

    Faces that look like dice

A d6 shows dots in the familiar pip pattern, so a roll of five dice looks like a handful of real ones. Every other die shows its number on the face.

    The total

The big number is always the sum of every die in the roll. With three d6 you might see 11, with 3 + 4 + 4 underneath.

    History

Each roll is added to the History list in short dice notation, newest at the top. “3d6: 11” means three six sided dice that added up to 11. It is handy for settling a dispute about who rolled what. The list clears when you leave the page, while your dice count and sides are remembered in this browser.

    A small extra for d20s

If you roll a single d20, a 20 or a 1 gets a short call-out under the total. Rolling exactly two d6 that match shows “Doubles”.

Good uses for a virtual dice roller

    • Board games with lost dice. Most family games use one or two d6. Set the count and keep playing.
    • Games over video calls. Share your screen and roll where everyone can see the result.
    • Classroom math. Roll three dice and have students add or multiply them. Roll many times and chart the totals to see how sums bunch up in the middle.
    • Random choices. Number six chores or snacks and roll a d6. Use a d12 to pick a month, or a d4 to choose one of four options.
    • Dice heavy games. Push your luck games where you roll five or six dice at once go faster when the total is done for you.

    Fair rolls

Each die gets its own number from your browser’s cryptographic random generator (crypto.getRandomValues). Every face has the same chance on every roll, and earlier rolls have no effect on the next one. A physical die can be slightly out of balance. This one cannot.

If you mainly need a pair of six sided dice, the two dice roller is set up for that. For tabletop role-playing with modifiers and advantage, use the tabletop RPG dice roller.

    Frequently asked questions

    What dice can I roll?

    You can roll a d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20 or d100. Pick the die in the Sides menu.

How many dice can I roll at once?

From 1 to 10 dice of the same kind per roll. The big number is the total, and the line under it shows each die, such as 4 + 2 + 6.

    Can I roll different dice together, like a d6 and a d8?

Not in one roll. Each roll uses one die type. Roll the d6, switch the Sides menu, then roll the d8, and both results stay in the History list.

Is the d100 two ten sided dice?

No. Here the d100 is a single die numbered 1 to 100, with each number equally likely, so you do not need to combine a tens die and a ones die.

Does the history save after I close the page?

No. The history lasts for this visit only. Your number of dice and choice of sides are saved in the browser, so they are ready next time.

Is a virtual dice roller fair?

Yes. Each die is rolled with the browser's cryptographic random generator, so every face has the same chance on every roll, with no worn corners or weighting.
